How could a person give charity after he died? The answer is, it just possible. That is, if someone gives charity on behalf of the person who died, the reward will be recorded for him.
In a hadith from ‘Aishah (may Allah blesses her), she says:
إن أمي افتلتت نفسها وأراها لو تكلمت، تصدقت، فهل لها أجر إن تصدقت عنها؟ قال: “نعم”
A man said to the Prophet (ﷺ): “My mother has died suddenly. I think that if she were able to talk (alive) she would have given in Sadaqah (charity). So, if I give Sadaqah now on her behalf, will she get the reward?”. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Yes (she will be rewarded for that)”. [al-Bukhari and Muslim].
So, let’s do good to our parents who have died. Or, our relatives, or people we care about. By giving charity on their behalf. Hopefully that will elevate them in the sight of Allah, and erase their sins.
Your charitable contribution makes it possible for us to provide hundreds of food bags for orphans. We need more to reach a $10,000 monthly target. You can give charity on behalf of your dearest relatives here: ussunnah.org/orphans
