The Prophet ﷺ is an example for all of us in giving alms. He never held back from giving alms. He gives everything to help others and is not afraid of being poor when giving alms.
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah blesses him) says:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never asked anything for the sake of Islam but that he would give it. A man came to the Prophet and he gave him many sheep, so the man returned to his people and he said, “O my people! Embrace Islam, for Muhammad gives in charity as if he has no fear of poverty!”.
In another narration, Anas says,
“Indeed, a man would embrace Islam desiring worldly gains. He would not practice Islam but for a while, until Islam became more beloved to him than the world and everything in it” [Saheeh Muslim].
Follow the Prophet! Do what we can to help others. Don’t be afraid of being poor when giving alms. Rest assured, by giving charity, Allah will give blessings to our wealth and property.
