The Prophet ﷺ was eager to fast the day of Ashura. Even though he is a man that forgiven by Allah all his past and future sins. Then, we should also be eager to fast the day of Ashura.
A hadith from ‘Ubaydallah ibn Abi Yazid. He says that Ibn Abbas (may Allah blesses him) says,
I did not see the Prophet ﷺ as eager to fast a day and preferring it over others except for this day of Ashura and this month of Ramadan” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]
