The Obligation to Honour Your Parent

give honour parent

Islam pays a great deal of attention to implanting the principle of respect for parent, give them honour, taking care of them and obeying their commands (in accordance with the sharee’ah) until death.

Allah ﷻ says:

❝And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.❞ [Al-Isra’, 17: 23].

Allah  also says:

“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good” [An Nisa: 36].

The Prophet ﷺ says:

“What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “To be good and dutiful to one’s parents,” `Abdullah asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “To participate in Jihad for Allah’s Cause.” `Abdullah added, “The Prophet (ﷺ) narrated to me these three things, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more [Bukhari – Muslim].

So, behave good to your parent.
