How the believers see their sin? They don’t underestimate sins! Even the small sins. The companion of the Prophet ﷺ always fear of their sins, whatever it is. Even though they are people who are blessed by Allah.
Ibn Mas’ood, may Allah blesses him, describes the attitude of the believer and of the hypocrite as follows:
❝The believer sees his sins as if he were sitting beneath a mountain which he fears will fall on him. Whilst the sinner sees his sins as if it were a fly passing his nose and he says such-and-such to it❞ – i.e., he shoos it away with his hand. [al-Bukhari, al-Fath, 11/102].
